When Jasmine opened, over 25 years ago, we simply wanted to create a business around things we loved and that we hoped might bring joy to you. Along the way the business grew and evolved as we got to know you better. There have been many difficult times, as there has for many of you, and lots of us went through these experiences together. So today, we are very emotional to announce the closure of our little business. Changes in our lives have meant that there is a need to simplify it, and I am sure many of you reading this will feel similarly. Life doesn’t stand still and change, though challenging, can bring us the opportunity for a fresh start, which is more aligned with where we are now. We have been blessed to work in an industry that helps people feel good about themselves and we hope we played some part in making you feel great in everyday life and on special occasions. It has always made our day when we felt we had achieved that! We have, and have had, wonderful staff (I have counted about 20 in total), fabulous customers (I couldn’t begin to count you!) and I would like to thank every one of you for all of your support. Without you we would not have reached this quarter of a century milestone. It is very comforting to know that we have made many special friends – both customers and suppliers. Many of you come from much farther afield and abroad and we so appreciate the support you have given us. We are so very proud to have been part of the business community in Mullingar. It is, and always has been, a great town and it’s a credit to you all, there are still very longstanding thriving businesses despite all the retail changes in recent years. As much retail experience as we have gained, we have not closed a business before, so we can’t say exactly how long this will take. We would expect to be closing some time in mid September depending on stock levels. Along with great sale stock (there is apparently a heatwave coming!) we have new winter stock which will be discounted now too.
